Bike Grab Instructions PDF Print E-mail

Bike-Grab has a robust, unit construction steel frame that offers maximum stability under any load; the unique design employs gravity to keep the bike firmly upright and in place.

Bike-Grab offers a choice of front or rear wheel parking and fits tire sizes up to 7 ½ inches wide.

Bike-Grab offers security by bolting the grab down to the garage floor or trailer and locking the motorcycle to it. The bolts cannot be removed with a motorcycle firmly in the Bike-Grab because the bolts are under the wheel.  This is also the case when using the quick release kit.

For the best results ensure that the wheel plates fit tightly against the tire walls and that the tire is firmly gripped in the front hoop.

Assembly:  If the unit is shipped without the side plates attached you will have the following items to assemble.

Mainframe, Wheel plates x2, M8 Bolts, washers & nuts x4.  (See diagram)

1.    Position the side wheel plates with the longer extensions facing the front hoop of the bike grab and the lead in flanges facing outwards.  For cruiser motorcycles another option for improved stability is to reverse the plates with the longer extensions facing the ramp.  Make sure that the extensions do not hit the motorcycle fender with this option.

2.    Assemble using the four M8 bolts up through the ramp slots and holes in the wheel plates, and loosely fit the 4x M8 washers and M8 locking nuts on the top side.

3.    Determine the width of your tire from the markings on the side of the tire and set the inner edge of the wheel plates to the corresponding position on the measuring scale. Note that actual tire width varies by brand so make fine adjustments to the plates so that they are tight against the tire.  Keep tire pressure up to specifications.

4.    Lock the four M8 bolts securely with a 13mm wrench.

5.    The stand is now ready for operation.

6.    There are anti slip pads are on the bottom of the Bike-Grab and a rubber mat can be added in the case of very slippery floors.

Use:  Position the Bike-Grab directly in-line with the appropriate wheel and roll the bike in.  Riding in is recommended for front wheel application.  Force the tire hard against the front hoop of the bike grab so that the tire is firmly gripped and check that the side plates are tight against the tire.  For narrow tires less than120 mm wide it is best to use the reducer kit so that the front of the tire is held firmly in place.

Take care to roll the bike between the side plates as rolling the bike up onto the plates can cause a sudden shift in weight and un-balance the bike!

Transporting:  When using the Bike-Grab on a trailer or vehicle, it is best to bolt it to the floor.  Bolts can be attached directly through the Bike-Grab, or the Quick Release Plate can be bolted to the floor and the Bike-Grab bolted to it using the quick release carriage bolt.  When attaching the plate to the floor use the 2 supplied fender washers under the rear holes between the plate and the floor if more height is needed to slide the quick release carriage bolt into the slot in the plate.  Always securely fasten the motorcycle with straps.  There is no need to compress the front suspension when using the Bike-Grab.

Always check the suitability of use for your application and stability as differing surfaces can sometimes cause stability problems.
